Kate Bush releases new single: ‘Wild Man’

Known for her idiosyncratic style and surreally imaginative music, Bush is back with a new single. ‘Wild Man’ is best described as reminiscent of her earlier work. Following her album Areial, released in 2005, it seemed that Kate Bush had given up on the surrealism and bizarre musical styling’s that made her music before so delightfully enchanting. While her last album depicted her reflection of the ordinariness of life musically and lyrically, ‘Wild Man’ shows Bush at her best.

The singer/ songerwriter has the remarkable ability of reaching into the wildest parts of her imagination and creating music that can still communicate to people. Throughout the song, several layers can be heard. A subtle, regular addictive beat underlies an Asian-style guitar riff. Over this Bush’s whispery lyrics build up to a crescendo. With every listen of this chorus, it gets more thrilling. The lyrics are enigmatic, as they narrate the story of a figure wandering around, lost and mysterious. Her voice also reflects this. It is full of intrigue and understanding, yet still creates an atmosphere of mystery.

Whether you find it difficult to understand, or simply adore it, there is one thing that cannot be denied: Bush’s music is innovative, intriguing and never tiresome.
