The return of Ani DiFranco

After three years of silence, the singer/songwriter is about to release her new album, due on January 17.

Which Side Are You On? is a powerful mix of enjoyable and deep songs, always revealing a growing conscience for the artist.

Sometimes intimate, sometimes activist and politically outrageous, the brand new Ani DiFranco confirms her talent and shrewdness.

Last night performance at Union Chapel was the best way to taste a preview of the upcoming release.

A strong set of new and oldies, a minimal performance based on her acoustic guitar; but still, an orchestral feeling close to technical perfection.

The result is a painstakingly refined show. Most of all, a great entertainer like Ani DiFranco can take everybody’s breath away.

The artist melts music with funny sketches, poems and special jams (occasionally calling a fan to play the guitar on the stage).

A simple and never boring, open minded live.

The “righteous babe” has never lost her sharp charisma. She’s still on the front line.
