Thom Browne’s fairytale-esque A/W 2014 collection
Thom Browne was our favourite designer during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. The designer immersed us into a wonderland world for his autumn/winter 2014 collection.
Thom’s fairytale-esque show was the talk of the town as his avant-garde and mythical creations left members of the audience in awe. However, he is not only a designer of clothes, he also designs headpieces that encouraged the enchanting mood of the show.
The collection was primarily based around grey tones, which resembled school-boy uniforms, styled with pulled up socks and gloves to finish the look. The blazers were slim-fitting but weren’t so clean cut.
The collection had a rough style that was emphasised through mix-matched materials and the unfinished edges. This gave the collection an interesting angle as most designers make their collections smooth and shiny.
The heavier, over-sized pieces threw the audience into the rabbit hole as the oddly proportioned pieces were much more theatrical and less ready-to-wear. You can never make predictions on what Thom Browne will come up with next season – and we love him for it!
