Reese Witherspoon launched her new fashion retailer online last week and within a matter of hours, several signature pieces were already sold out – including $325 purses and $225 dresses. An already great success for the actress-turned-lifestyle entrepreneur and boy, all of these items are so pretty.
The 39-year-old is following in the footsteps of other celebrities who have brought out successful fashion lines, including Beyonce, Gwen Stefani and Madonna.
The brand itself, titled Draper James, is based on Reese’s Southern upbringing. Named after her grandparents, this project was very close to home and she has really embraced her Nashville roots within her brand. She’s even planning to open a store in her hometown, hopefully by autumn.
Draper James has a whole array of items for you to fawn over. From clothing, homeware, stationery, accessories and bags, to city and style guides, including “how to dress the part at all the times” and “the best places to grab some food in New Orleans”. You can even pick yourself up some hand-stitched cocktail napkin sets! It’s clear that Reese wants the customer to feel just as much at home with Draper James as she does.
“I created Draper James to honour my past and allow others to embrace the beauty, style and excitement that embodies what is happening in the South today,” she said.
Grace and charm is the theme behind the brand and the romantic, girly and floral pieces are reminiscent of Reese’s own, very feminine personal style.
“I love clothes with colour and happy prints because you only get one life, so you might as well make it pretty.” Reese said in an attached video, alongside the website.
Beautiful magnolias area reoccurring motif throughout the pieces, including the Draper James logo and a beautiful navy co-ord set that Reese modelled herself. Other prints include nautical stripes, gingham and lots and lots of lace.
Prices are quite high-end, in comparison to previous celeb brands. But that clearly hasn’t seemed to stop the fans grabbing every last piece. Dresses are up to $300, tote bags $150 and tank tops $125.
With an Oscar under her belt, a new fashion retailer and currently promoting her new film, we’d say 2015 is going to be one of the best yet for Reese Witherspoon.
