Son Jung Wan catwalk show report S/S2016 for NYFWNew York Fashion Week SS16
Son Jung Wan presented her gorgeous 42-piece spring/summer 2016 collection in the large Skylight venue at Moynihan Station. Pastel and cream dominated the runway with an occasional splash of deep green and purple for a powerful color contrast.
The show started with asymmetric and airy short dresses, followed by shimmering-leather, clean-cut silhouettes and A-line strapless cocktail dresses. Fine details such as leather, sequin, massive front zippers and long, wide skirts with shapely wastes added edginess to what otherwise would be more typical soft spring looks. All models donned metallic halo headbands with high buns.
Son Jung Wan who was born and raised in Korea and is one of the most successful Korean fashion designers. She attended design school at International Mode in Seoul, established her brand in 1989 and her line sells in many stores in the USA as well as in over 50 department stores in Korea. Her Spring/Summer 2016 collection reflects on what Son Jung Wan considers dual nature of women- pretty and feminine yet luxurious, sexy and chic.
