Toutiao x Acfn spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk for NYFW
Toutiao’s collection began with simple, yet elegant eveningwear. The line, not shy of thin spaghetti straps or revealing, mid-high slips, were found on just about every black dress. The thick zipper starting from the shoulder to the mid-torso, or large pockets on the right side of the blouse, complemented a trendy, reverse V-neck-V-back of some sort worn by other models.
Then, a mixture of light colours – periwinkle, powdered blue, blush pink, off-white and pale greys – were brilliantly paired with deep copper belts (unbuckled), or darker shaded patches (i.e. a dark blue strip of material was found on a light blue top with matching pants or skirts).
Apart from the dresses shown, flaring capri pants were partnered with white blouses barely covering the stomach. One unique white blouse had a grey collar attached in its traditional design on one side of the neck, while on the other side the collar draped down the décolleté area.
By the end of the collection, a model wore an oversized black bolero over a white peplum dress, showing off a long tail. The open-toed shoes also finished the look with several two-toned designs. One particular shoe had a dark periwinkle front strap, a navy blue ankle strap, and a tan-coloured heel. The dark and light contrast set the tone for the new Toutiao collection and demonstrated an edgy approach to casual and semi-formal eveningwear.
