Having studied fashion design and soft furnishings from 16 years old, Liz Longworth always showed an interest in creating her own pieces; but aged 18, she went back to education to take media studies.

When becoming a full time mum, Liz’s family got to a stage where they needed a financial boost. After having originally started out as a hobby, La Chic Unique blossomed in December 2010. As her reputation grew, more people began enquiring about how they could gain the pieces Liz had designed, and this is when she took the next step into creating her own business.  The website finally went live in October 2011 and since then, she has made her mark within the fashion industry.

Ideas towards her jewellery came from things that she couldn’t buy in the shops herself. This started a major part of the design process. Liz also likes to use common fashion trends but put her own unique twist on them, making her pieces exclusive but perfect for this year’s Spring/Summer season.

The jewellery sold in La Chic Unique is bespoke, affordable and vintage. It reflects today’s modern fashion ways with an eccentric, timely but classic edge.  Pieces of jewellery from the boutique have been seen worn on the new music star Tiger Lilly at the Brit Awards in 2011. Liz is also currently working on a vintage collection for the online vintage marketplace, My Vintage.

Special favourites are the cupcake earrings, especially designed for Hey Little Cupcake based in Manchester, the glistening shining star ring and the love letters necklace – absolutely perfect for Valentine’s Day. What makes La Chic Unique so special is the ‘commissions’ option on the website. For any item of jewellery seen in the boutique, you can request a commission which allows you to change colours of charms or metals used, or even make your own design from scratch. We don’t think we could ask for anything else!
