The Upcoming is an independent culture magazine based in London. We review films, concerts, plays, exhibitions and restaurants, cover festivals and red carpets, and interview the people behind them.

Our team is made up of freelancers, many of them at the start of their careers. You contribute remotely, at hours that suit you, with feedback from our editorial unit on what you send in. It is a way to get published, build a portfolio and earn a reference for your CV.

Assistant editor

Help our writers get their articles ready for publication.

Sub-editor

The last pair of eyes on each article: spelling, grammar, facts and headlines.

Editorial assistant

Liaise with PRs, research stories and pitch ideas for articles and features.

Photographer

Shoot concerts, events and red carpets in London with press accreditation.

Social media assistant

Help run our Instagram, Facebook and X accounts.
