How to look your best this Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is almost upon us and although some shudder at the thought of the hallmark holiday, those who are all loved up will be relishing the thought of heart-shaped boxes of chocolates and bouquets of ruby red roses. If you’ve got a hot date on the 14th of February, it is only natural to want to look your best and we at The Upcoming know the key to a successful date is a successful outfit.

What every girl needs to know is they need to wear something – and here’s the big secret – which makes them feel confident. Whether it is a bodycon-style dress or t-shirt and jeans, a coat of red lipstick or an au naturel complexion; if you feel good you will look good. Having said that, there are also a few good tricks that will give you a little boost and make every girl feel her best.

Shoes

Shoes are always a good place to start. Think of them as the foundation of your look, something you can create an outfit on. Psychology reports show that 90% of a stranger’s personality can be read through their shoe choice, so maybe the Valentine’s date is the perfect excuse for you to buy a new pair. We love these slick-patent-peeptoes in black. They are sexy but with a bit of a twist given by the chunky angled heel.

Matching Underwear

Not for what you originally think! Before you nip off to Ann Summers and buy into the heart shapes and tacky mesh and excusing the poor fit as it is only for one night, why not invest in something special that’s not for him but for you. There’s a feel good factor that comes from knowing you’re wearing a special matching set even if no one else is going to see it. It’s like walking around wearing a little secret.

Treat yourself to something new

Be it a bag, dress or a nail polish, having something new about your outfit will make it feel fresh again. If you’re feeling romantic and sweet, why not take this opportunity to wear something fitting the occasion? Spell it out for him with this not so subtle Love skirt? We also love this LBD with a difference – a bold heart print that somehow looks cute and fashionable at the same time.

Have fun young lovers!
