After what seems like forever, Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby is finally in cinemas and is causing quite a stir. Not only has fashion been regressed to include glamorous flapper styles but now you can live a day in twenties-style luxury thanks to the quintessentially British Milestone Hotel in Kensington.

Inspired by the film’s release, the 19th century, five-star hotel has unveiled a special package treating guests to 20s decadence. The Roaring 20s break includes an overnight stay in one of The Milestone’s deluxe rooms with a feature marble bathroom, English breakfast and a copy of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby to take home. But that is not all. To really live a life of luxury you’ll need a spritz of expensive perfume and a flash car, naturally. The package has this covered with a £50 voucher to spend at boutique perfumery Floris and a chauffeur driven Bentley to take you there. Guests will also be given two tickets to see the film at a cinema in Kensington.

After a glamour-filled evening from the 20s, why not treat yourself to a cocktail inspired by the era in the hotel’s intimate Stables Bar. The two new cocktails The Gatsby and The Daisy, named after the two main characters in the book and film, have been created with classic drinks in mind. The Gatsby, a special version of The Tuxedo, is a Martini with a dash of maraschino liqueur and a dose of absinthe, giving the drink an anise flavour and trust us, you’ll only need one! The Daisy is a take on the popular 20s bourbon and ginger beer highball, made by the hotel with your favourite spirit.

If you fancy a taste of the 20s style, the opulent Milestone also offers a Flapper Platter lunch, which includes both cocktails and a selection of delicacies from the era. Sit in the hotel’s beautiful monochrome conservatory and enjoy Portobello mushrooms with crab and Parmesan, Waldorf salad and Rinktum Diddy, a dish of beaten egg with onion, tomato, cheese and Tabasco and Worcester sauce.
