Stella McCartney hosts an evening of entertainment in Shanghai

Stella McCartney hosts an evening of entertainment in Shanghai

On May 22nd Stella McCartney presented her evening wear looks from her Autumn 2013 and Winter 2013 collections with a black tie dinner at the ballroom of the historic Astor House, a landmark building erected during British colonial Shanghai.

There was live music at the event in the form of opera, jazz and even some modern numbers as well as ballroom dancing, acrobatics and contortionists, all of whom were decked out in McCartney’s Adidas range. They even spelled out her name! The collection itself is modest and practical, predominantly in a variety of pastels but with a few cheeky prints here and there.

McCartney’s Autumn 2013 is very classical, featuring a great deal of contrast and structure. There is plenty of monochrome, but the collection makes good use of rich colour and fine detail. Her Winter 2013 collection appears to have taken a good amount of inspiration from formal menswear as there is a lot of suit-style pinstripe, blazers and collars. Littered between these more androgynous looks are a few outfits with a very oriental feel, a complete contrast from the majority of the collection.
