Every girl has an idea of her dream wedding dress; be it flowing silk, intricate lace or layers of tulle with beautiful buttoning, long trains or detailed beading work in an array of shapes and styles. So many brides now are after a special dress that’s a little bit different, ensuring to wow guests as she floats down the aisle. However, perfection comes at quite a price, until now. Cue new bridal wear designer Dajana Basic, whose designs are simple but anything from basic.

The brand specialises in ready-to-wear dresses for young modern brides who want bespoke designer style without the price tag. The label’s first collection goes for something against tradition for S/S 2014, and moves “away from pure white and towards delicate colour accents”. Each of the eight designs are classic in shape and embellished with delicate colour. The dresses are created in a palette of delicate and sweet macaroon shades with each dress featuring a subtle colour accent. Pink petticoats peak out beneath layers of organza overlays and pearls are stitched into white lace and embroidered coloured appliqués.

Previously a stylist, Dajana turned her creative hand to wedding dress design to make gorgeous gowns available to everyone regardless of their budget: “I had clients who were looking for something unusual, modern and eye-catching but weren’t able to spend thousands of pounds on a bespoke designer wedding dress,” she explains, “I realised that there was a gap in the market for affordable, unusual wedding dresses for young, modern brides.”

Recently Dajana Basic London showcased its new collection on a catwalk to a specially selected audience. The evening was filled with macaroons mirroring the colours on the catwalk and a cocktail reception for guests.
