The Dorchester Rooftop Tea Series launch with Laurent-Perrier

The Dorchester Rooftop Tea Series launch with Laurent-Perrier

The Dorchester hotel on Park Lane, a London institution, is about to launch a series of rooftop afternoon teas in celebration of the Laurent-Perrier Gardens garden in Chelsea and, of course, the upcoming Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show 2014.

The quintessential British afternoon tea will be inspired by the horticultural extravaganza, with delicate pastries made out of lavender essence, rose, apricot, strawberry and rhubarb. Stunningly crafted, the multi-coloured miniature pastries on showcase on this lovely afternoon were the pride and joy of the head chef, and coupled with Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle champagne, were the “ideal marriage”.

The Rooftop Tea Series will be hosted by Laurent-Perrier in the delightful penthouse and pavilion suite. A truly magical entrance room with elegant leafy gold decorated mirrors and stunning flower displays greets you as you walk into the suite; it has a slight feeling of an enchanted forest. The entrance room then leads out onto the rooftop, which boasts unparalleled views of London’s amazing skyline. For the duration of the tea series, the rooftop will be transformed into a model of the Laurent-Perrier flower garden, which will be on display at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Following on from the reception, guests will be seated in the dining room for a luxury afternoon tea. We were treated to a sampling of dainty finger sandwiches, including fillings such as salmon, chicken, egg and cress, and cucumber and cream cheese. The highlight was the accompanying fresh, warm, heavenly scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam. For tea, the Dorchester’s own brand – a strong blend of English breakfast – was served beside the divine Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle champagne.

The tea series promises to be a luxurious and delicious event for guests attending the Chelsea Flower Show, as well as those wishing to try the Dorchester’s award-winning afternoon tea in the breathtaking penthouse suite.
