Sabinna’s new collection I Still Love You highlighted the emotions evoked by first love as a teenager. The catwalk was part of a mixed reality fashion presentation where audiences can interact and purchase the garments that inspired teen love, in the virtual world. Innovative and new ideas incorporated with beautifully handmade luxury fashion played upon the weak-knee inducing feeling of being in love for the first time.

The show opened with music reflective of a lullaby or child’s nursery rhyme evoking the idea of nostalgia and school-ground style, cleverly shown in the eclectic mix of belt bags, velvet style dungarees coupled with a chunky cowl neck jumper and pops of colour in the form of collars, buttons and floral belts. The music then became an eclectic upbeat mix that married together with the colour palettes of navy, white, mint green, pink and burgundy.

School yard crush and giddy ideas of first love were evident everywhere from the partially braided hair reminiscent of childhood to the school uniform inspired separates in navy, burgundy and green. The romantic and playful vibes were prominent throughout, although most noticeable in abstract heart motif dress and tees with chest emblems cinched in with corset style waist belts.

Grownup-style silk organza with original prints and rose gold woven jacquard pieces (like a long open coat that seemed an audience favourite) contrasted with the fun, functional and feminine dungarees and cross body bags fastened with bejewelled floral detailing. Mixed materials could also be found in the organic cotton check made in the UK and the signature sweatshirts which were embellished with hand crocheted flowers and slogans reflective of teenage valentines cards like “be mine or go away”. These sweatshirts were turned from school yard style to fashion forward with string belts and corsets to exaggerate feminine curves. Prep school style met luxury in the form of layered crocheted-floral sweatshirt in pink hues, the placement of which meant to replicate a heart motif.

Renowned for signature handcraft and silhouettes, Sabinna emphasised models physique using string belt, velvet bands and oriental inspired corsets that coupled luxe fabric with detailed ribbon lacing This was most utilised for the cinched in style it gave a long sleeve pink dress that illustrated preppy schoolgirl style.

The collection exists in an experimental and artistic approach to love, storytelling the way of impressing crushes and the feelings of receiving mixed messages.  Through the utilisation of a notion of school and love experienced by us all, Sabinna’s collection catalyses this in a augmented reality experience allowing a revolutionary fashion and technology collaboration.
