Restaurant Story relaunches with a music playlist curated by British top chefs and Rudimental

For the relaunch of Restaurant Story – which has undergone an extensive refurbishment for the first time since it opened five years ago – along with the beautiful new interiors, Tom Sellers has created a seriously cool music playlist with songs selected by world-renowned chefs and curated by Rudimental.

Each chef was asked to suggest three songs that they love and that inspire them, and all these – along with some of Sellers’s favourites – were put into a playlist by the award-winning London-based electronic group Rudimental. These top chefs, who hold 35 Michelin stars, include Jason Atherton, Gordon Ramsay, Sat Bains, Tom Aikens, Brett Graham, Claude Bosi, Angela Hartnett, Ashley Palmer-Watts, Phil Howard, Isaac McHale, Clare Smyth, Daniel Clifford as well as global giants Daniel Humm and Björn Frantzén.

Sellers said: “Music is a massive part of not only my life but also daily life in a restaurant. On a morning during prep and especially during clean down, someone always takes over the music. I asked some of the best chefs in the world which songs mean the most to them. A lot of these are tied up in what is played in kitchens all over the world, which I love. They can remind you of loved ones, colleagues, holidays or times in your life. I asked DJ Locksmith (Rudimental) to mix the list into a playlist and smooth out some tracks and make it suitable to play in Story.

Food and music naturally go together. In terms of a sensory experience, I pretty much have taste, smell, touch and sight covered but I wanted to add another dimension to the new version of Story. And perhaps let these songs mean something to our guests too when they remember their experience.”
