Nonie spring/summer 2019 collection catwalk show for NYFW
Nonie, designed by Nina Kharey, showed their luxurious spring/summer collection at Industria. The ethical Canadian designer best-known for being a favourite of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, presented a collection inspired by the Orient.
Though the line began ten years ago, the designer took a break to focus on her personal life. After coming back, Nina Kharey has clearly taken the time of her hiatus to learn what women want to wear and to hone her personal aesthetic.
The majority of the pieces in the line were made from silk charmeuse which gave the clothing a beautiful flow and a luxurious sheen. Sheer elements in silk chiffon and organza gave a modern edge to the garments.
Nonie showed a pared-down colour palette of black and white with pops of yellow and red. Bold monochromatic outfits also allowed the more subtle design elements to show through. Although many of the styles had clean, architectural lines, ruching was a prevalent detail.
The styles ranged from beautiful but practical mix and match separates to stylish but easy to wear dresses. The figure-flattering pants were especially exceptional. These are the sort of clothes that people find themselves reaching for again and again when they hang in their closet.
The designer clearly knows what stylish women on the go want to wear. The entire collection was the quintessential “effortless glamour” that so many strive to achieve.
