Clementine: An interview with director Lara Jean Gallagher

Clementine is the critically acclaimed feature film debut from writer/director Lara Jean Gallagher. Both a tense psychological drama and a coming-of-age story, the movie tells the tale of a heartbroken woman – tormented over a breakup – who becomes entangled with a younger girl after breaking into her ex’s remote lake house in the Pacific Northwest. As secrets are shared and the bond grows between the pair, so does a creeping sense of dread.

We spoke to director Gallagher about Clementine, the female gaze, visual imagery, selecting the cast and her inspiration for the movie.
