Venice Cocktail Week announces inaugural programme featuring Tayēr + Elementary

Next week, from 13th until 19th December, the city of Venice will host mixology royalty in a widespread cocktail festival, curated by Paola Mencarelli. The food and wine expert founded Florence Cocktail Week in 2016 (which has become established as Italy’s most essential cocktail week), followed by Tuscany Cocktail Week in 2019, and now the Venetian iteration, with a programme that includes some of the most respected names from the international cocktail scene.

Santa Maria Bloody Mary, The St. Regis Venice

Venice Cocktail Week invites attendees to discover the city through 26 participating venues, tasting specially created cocktails and experiencing some of the best that the city can offer. “The programme for Venice Cocktail Week showcases some of the best and biggest names in the international bar and cocktail scene, coming together in one of the most beautiful cities in the world,” says Mencarelli. “The city of Venice has a long and rich culture of bars and cocktails, and now, the public has the opportunity for the first time to explore this via its bars and hotels and with the help of the world’s best and most respected visiting bartenders.”

A Pat on the Back Martini, Grancaffè Quadri

Visiting bartenders include Alex Kratena from Tayēr + Elementary in London – voted the second best bar in the world this weekMaroš Dzurus from Himkok in Oslo, and Nico de Soto from Danico in Paris. The week will also feature a masterclass with Anthony Poncier, founder of Top 500 Bars, and an array of Italian talent including the likes of Benjamin Cavagna and Flavio Angiolillo from 1930 (Milan), Patrick Pistolesi from Drink Kong and Matteo Zed from The Court (Rome).

The event will host both free and ticketed events, at all hours, that will unite hotel bars, cocktail bars and historic cafés in becoming the stage for visiting bartenders to demonstrate their talents and promote responsible drinking culture. In addition, there will be themed nights and masterclasses, as well as activities celebrating Venetian culture.
