“There are no heroes in the story”: Michiel Huisman, Luke Evans and Jessica Ann Collins on Echo 3

Echo 3 is the taut new black ops action thriller series from Mark Boal, the Oscar-winning writer behind The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark 30 and Detroit, directed by South American Pablo Trapero and Claudio Llosa. Straddling contrasting worlds set in the US and Colombia, Boal brings his usual panache for combining authentic depictions of the nature of military activity (acquired from a past of working in war journalism) with high-stakes action and multi-layered characters and narratives.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of chatting to the three stars of the new show, Michiel Huisman, Luke Evans and Jessica Ann Collins, whose characters form a complex triangle of sorts. They spoke about the military knowledge and total commitment Boal brought to the set as showrunner and how Echo 3 presents with nuance a tale of international intrigue and its players.
