Apple TV+ unveils trailer for The Big Door Prize season two starring Chris O’Dowd

Apple TV+ has just released the eagerly awaited trailer for the second season of its highly acclaimed comedy series, The Big Door Prize, featuring Emmy Award winner Chris O’Dowd in the lead role. The show, created by Emmy Award-winning David West Read, known for his work on Schitt’s Creek, is set to return with a 10-episode season that will premiere globally on 24^th April 2024. The season kick-off will see the release of three episodes, with subsequent episodes to follow every Wednesday until 12^th June 2024.

The Big Door Prize delves into the lives of the residents of Deerfield as they encounter the Morpho machine, which promises to prepare them for a mysterious “next stage” in their lives. The second season continues to explore the transformation of relationships and identities within the community as characters confront new potentials and question their understanding of themselves and the machine’s purpose. Central characters Dusty, played by O’Dowd, and Cass, portrayed by Gabrielle Dennis, take a significant step in their relationship by deciding to spend time apart. Meanwhile, other residents, including Trina (Djouliet Amara) and Jacob (Sammy Fourlas), experience personal revelations that challenge their previous self-conceptions.

The ensemble cast of The Big Door Prize also includes Ally Maki, Damon Gupton, Josh Segarra and Crystal Fox, among others. Season two will feature both new and familiar faces, with guest stars such as Justine Lupe, Aaron Roman Weiner and Mary Holland making appearances. The show’s production boasts a collaboration between Skydance Television and CJ ENM/Studio Dragon, with David West Read leading as showrunner and executive producer.

Following its debut on Apple TV+, The Big Door Prize quickly achieved Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes and garnered acclaim for its thought-provoking and humorous take on the complexities of human potential and happiness, being praised as one of the most compelling comedy debuts in recent years.
