Speedboat Bar to host special dinner with Michelin-starred Samrub Samrub Thai

Speedboat Bar is set to host a one-night-only collaboration dinner with the Michelin-starred Bangkok sensation, Samrub Samrub Thai, on Wednesday, 24th April. The event, priced at £65 per person, is designed to celebrate Songkran, the Thai New Year, featuring a 10-course menu that draws inspiration from the bustling streets of Bangkok’s Chinatown. Chefs Prin and Mint from Samrub Samrub Thai will join forces with Luke Farrell to present a selection of dishes showcasing a journey through the rich tapestry of Thai cuisine. The highlight of the evening will be the iconic Khao Tom, a comforting rice soup, which will be served alongside a variety of salty, sour, pickled, and fried side courses.

The collaboration aims to merge tradition with innovation, offering culinary creations such as Deep-Fried Nut and Taro with Chilli and Spring Onion, Grilled Prawn in Fish Sauce with Asian Celery Dressing, and Beef Cheek Soup with Coconut Cream and Sour Leaves, among others. Each dish is meticulously crafted to reflect the vibrant gastronomic landscape of Bangkok.

Luke Farrell, the host of the evening, shared his excitement about the collaboration, reminiscing about his first encounter with Chef Prin at Nahm, the revolutionary Thai restaurant by David Thompson. Farrell’s personal connection to Thai cuisine, marked by his efforts to supply Prin with fresh chillies and herbs for Nahm’s menu, highlights the depth of passion and authenticity guests can expect from the dinner.

The event, which includes a welcome cocktail upon arrival, promises to be remembers as a rare opportunity to explore the depths of Thai flavours in the company of master chefs. With limited tickets available, interested guests are encouraged to sign up for the Speedboat Bar newsletter for 24-hour priority access to the booking on Wednesday, 27th March at 6 pm.
