Set for release in UK and Ireland cinemas in January 2025, A Complete Unknown, directed by James Mangold, has released its first teaser trailer. The film, featuring Timothée Chalamet in the role of the iconic musician Bob Dylan, explores the vibrant New York music scene of the early 60s, charting Dylan’s rise from a 19-year-old folk singer to a global phenomenon.

The narrative spans Dylan’s early days in Minnesota to his controversial electric performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, a pivotal moment in his career. The film is presented by Searchlight Pictures, a division of The Walt Disney Company.

Alongside Chalamet, the film boasts a stellar cast including Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz and Scoot McNairy.

A Complete Unknown marks another notable project for Mangold, who has previously received critical acclaim for films such as Walk the Line and Ford v Ferrari. The anticipation for this biographical film reflects the ongoing interest in Dylan’s transformative impact on music and culture.
