José Pizarro to open new restaurant Lolo in London this August

Chef José Pizarro will open a new all-day dining restaurant, Lolo, in Bermondsey Street, London, this August. The venue aims to offer a communal experience, reflecting the joy Pizarro finds in cooking his favourite dishes. Lolo will feature a menu of personal and new recipes developed with friends and suppliers from both the UK and Spain.

Lolo’s concept revolves around the sharing aspect of dining. The offer’s variety aims to cater for any time of the day, for guests to enjoy a delicious breakfast, a long lunch or evening bites and cocktails with friends or family, or for visitors to grab a sandwich or a glass of wine. Morning options include eggs with different accompaniments and a selection of deviled eggs, while lunch and dinner menus boast fresh salads, snacks, and tinned items alongside boards of fish, charcuterie, and cheeses.

The drinks selection at Lolo will present a succinct list of Mediterranean wines and cocktails, highlighted by a range of Bloody Marys designed to complement the food offerings. These comprise original takes such as one with pickled anchovies and another with Andalusian Gordal olives.

The restaurant will also reveal a new look for the José Pizarro brand, with a Mediterranean ambiance that transitions from a bright and airy café by day to a low-lit, intimate wine bar by night. The design incorporates warm tones, authentic tiling, rich timber, and stone, with art sourced through Pizarro’s connections in the art world, including works by local artist Norman Acroyd.

Pizarro said: “I am thrilled to be bringing Lolo to Bermondsey Street as I have felt that an all-day dining spot is what is missing for locals. The menu features dishes straight from my home kitchen and I am incredibly passionate about bringing these recipes to life within Lolo.”

The venue will be able to host up to 46 covers, with a bar area that includes also counter seating.
