MUBI sets UK and Ireland release for Christopher Andrews’s debut film Bring Them Down

MUBI has announced the UK and Ireland theatrical release date for its latest film, Bring Them Down, directed by Christopher Andrews. The film is set to premiere in cinemas on 7th February 2025.

Bring Them Down marks the directorial debut of Andrews and features an ensemble cast including Christopher Abbott, Barry Keoghan, Colm Meaney, Nora-Jane Noone, Paul Ready and Susan Lynch. The narrative centres around two feuding farming families in contemporary rural Ireland, exploring themes of isolation, legacy and conflict.

The storyline follows Michael, portrayed by Abbott, who lives a reclusive life with his ailing father on their family farm. Haunted by a dark secret, Michael’s life becomes further complicated as old tensions resurface with a neighbouring farmer and his unpredictable son, leading to a series of violent and tragic events.

Keoghan, known for his roles in The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn, plays the role of Jack, the antagonistic son from the rival farming family. The film examines the complexities of rural life and the deep-seated animosities that can disrupt communities.

Bring Them Down has already garnered attention on the festival circuit, receiving nominations at the British Independent Film Awards for the Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director and Breakthrough Producer. It also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was featured at the BFI London Film Festival 2024.

Andrews shared his thoughts on the film’s themes and his directorial approach: “The story of Bring Them Down is deeply personal, reflecting the often harsh realities of rural existence and the intense, sometimes destructive relationships that can form within small communities.”

As the release date approaches, Bring Them Down is expected to offer audiences a poignant look at the struggles and resilience of rural life, framed by Andrews’s unique vision and brought to life by a talented cast.
