Marjorie’s to bring Parisian flair to Soho with new French restaurant and wine bar

In May, Soho will welcome Marjorie’s, a French restaurant and wine bar, opening its doors on Foubert’s Place, just off Carnaby Street. The establishment is the brainchild of hospitality duo Michael Searle and Josh Anderson, alongside chef Giacomo Peretti, formerly of Le Gavroche, Temper, and Firebird. The restaurant, named after Michael’s late grandmother – a passionate Francophile – is designed to bring a slice of Parisian dining culture to central London.

Marjorie’s will operate seven days a week, offering lunch and dinner across its two-floor venue, accommodating up to 47 guests. The layout includes 27 seats on the ground floor and a 20-seat dining area with an open kitchen below. An additional 12 seats will be available for al fresco dining on the terrace, weather permitting.

The menu, curated by head chef Giacomo Peretti, promises a modern interpretation of French cuisine while respecting traditional techniques. Peretti, a Naples native with a rich background in some of London’s top kitchens, aims to highlight simplicity, sustainability, and the natural flavours of seasonal ingredients. Among the dishes, there will be Chicken Liver Rocher with Hazelnut and Morello, Bavette with Egg Yolk and Girolles, Crab Tart with Crab Bisque, whereas for the sweet side, the menu counts on Mille-feuille, Strawberries & chantilly, and Raspberry & Tarragon Sorbet. The restaurant will also feature a daily cheese board in collaboration with London’s La Fromagerie, focusing predominantly on French cheeses.

The wine list at Marjorie’s has been carefully assembled by co-founder Michael Searle. It features a selection of French labels, ranging from well-known varietals to offerings from smaller, contemporary producers. The list is designed to be concise and seasonally adapted, with a variety of wines available by the glass to match the menu.

The design of Marjorie’s reflects its Parisian inspiration, with a travertine-topped bar on the ground floor for communal dining and a cosy, intimate dining space in the historic Soho cellar vault below. The decor presents walnut wall panelling and dark tones, aiming to evoke an old-school Soho atmosphere.

Co-founder Michael Searle said, “Josh and I have been planning a wine bar since our first road trip around France together in my old P-reg Vauxhall Corsa, back in 2014! We met Giacomo in 2024, and his recent trip to Paris and appreciation for the bar à vins style confirmed he was the perfect partner for us. Together, we aim to recreate the laid-back yet high-quality atmosphere of those Parisian spots.”

Emma Matus, head of restaurant leasing at Shaftesbury Capital, commented on the choice of the position in the city: “We identified this Foubert’s Place location as being perfect for a wine bar and premium casual dining concept. Marjorie’s embodies the quality and calibre of concept we were looking for.”
