Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme set to premiere in UK cinemas on 23rd May

The upcoming film The Phoenician Scheme, directed and written by Wes Anderson, is set to hit UK cinemas on 23rd May 2025. This narrative-driven feature stars Benicio del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, a European magnate, with Mia Threapleton portraying his daughter Liesl, who has taken the vows of a nun. Michael Cera joins the cast as Bjorn, the family’s tutor.

The movie boasts an impressive ensemble, including Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend and Hope Davis. The screenplay, crafted by Anderson himself, is based on a story co-written with Roman Coppola, suggesting a rich, collaborative narrative likely infused with Anderson’s signature style.

The Phoenician Scheme is produced by Anderson alongside Steven Rales, Jeremy Dawson and John Peet. This marks another addition to Anderson’s distinctive filmography, known for its meticulous visual compositions and idiosyncratic storytelling.
