Toklas Bakery teams up with Sonora Taquería for one-night celebration of Sonoran cuisine in central London

Next Thursday, Toklas Bakery in central London will host a collaborative evening with Sonora Taquería, offering a one-night-only celebration of Sonoran cuisine. The event, beginning at 6pm at the bakery’s premises on Surrey Street off the Strand, will feature a special menu of tacos, small plates and agave-based drinks. The collaboration marks a temporary transformation of Toklas Bakery into a late-night venue, hosting the culinary expertise of the Mexican eatery, which specialises in food from its namesake region, Sonora, a northwestern state in Mexico.

Guests purchasing tickets will receive two agave-based drinks – such as mezcal or tequila cocktails – and a complimentary mini burrito available in two versions: with beef floss and refried beans, or as a vegetarian option featuring melted cheese and beans. In addition to these, Sonora Taquería will serve a limited menu of tacos and small plates with a variety of fillings, including confit pork belly, slow-braised beef and cactus leaf, with pico de gallo salad.

The event is also open to walk-ins, allowing an opportunity for those who have not yet visited Sonora Taquería’s brick-and-mortar location to try their food in a central London setting. This reflects a current phenomenon in London’s food scene, where collaborations between established venues and pop-up or street food vendors are increasingly common, providing chefs and food entrepreneurs with a platform to reach new audiences and experiment with different formats.
