Troye Sivan to contribute original music to Ryan Murphy’s The Shards
Troye Sivan and longtime collaborator Leland are set to provide original music for The Shards, the upcoming FX drama from Ryan Murphy based on Bret Easton Ellis’s bestselling novel.
Disney+ has also unveiled new key art for the series, which premieres in the UK on 6th August with its first two episodes.
Set in 1980s Los Angeles, The Shards follows aspiring writer Bret (Igby Rigney), whose final year at an elite prep school is upended by the arrival of enigmatic newcomer Robert Mallory (Homer Gere). As suspicion grows around a serial killer known as The Trawler, Bret begins to question whether the two mysteries could be connected.
The soundtrack will feature new music written by Grammy-nominated artist Sivan and producer-songwriter Leland, whose previous collaborations include Rush, One of Your Girls and Got Me Started. Original songs will also be contributed by rising pop artist Hayes Warner, who stars in the series as Debbie Schaffer.
Alongside Rigney, Gere and Warner, the ensemble cast includes Kaia Gerber, Wes Bentley, Evan Rachel Wood and Jordan Roth.
Created for television by BAFTA-winning writer Rowan Joffe and executive produced by Murphy, The Shards adapts Bret Easton Ellis’s acclaimed novel into a psychological thriller exploring identity, obsession and privilege against the backdrop of a city gripped by fear.
