Introducing Into the Ark: A striking soulful acoustic folk band

It may be the first time you’ve heard mention of acoustic duo Into the Ark, but with their success steadily growing it most certainly won’t be the last. The band consists of Taylor Jones and Dane Lloyd, two charismatic and exceptionally talented young musicians who met as teenagers at a charity gig in their hometown and have been playing together ever since. With soul and motown amongst their musical influences, the pair have themselves developed a soulful acoustic sound with folk undertones similar to that of Paolo Nutini, with whom the pair now share the same management.

What can be expected from this up and coming new group? What makes them different to other artists soon to grace the new music scene? Well, firstly, they’re two hugely likeable chaps, whose Welsh accents and modest attitudes win us over from the go. But most notably the precision and control with which they sing is striking.

Harmonising their socks off, Dane hits some impressive high notes whilst Taylor, assuming the role of lead singer, possesses a rare vocal talent that really needs to be heard live to be fully appreciated: describing it just doesn’t do it justice.

Now’s the time to give them a listen. With live performances of their own songs such as Better than Never at All and Action Man to be found on YouTube, along with some great covers, Into the Ark have just officially released their debut single entitled My Ghost. The track begins with a raw acoustic feel and picks up the pace as it moves into the chorus to take on a folky rock and roll vibe. It’s hugely catchy and shows off the vocal talent of the two musicians, as well as their songwriting skills led by the work of Dane. And with more new songs in the pipeline, the next due to be released in December, it’s all go for the duo as 2016 draws to an end. After having recently returned from a successful tour in Holland they’re now back in the UK with two upcoming gig dates on the horizon. Catch them in London at the Social on the 28th November or at Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff on the 13th December. Expect two guitars, two exceptional voices and one smooth, heartfelt and soulful set.
