Newton Faulkner: An interview and live session with the British singer-songwriter
Shot by Filippo L'Astorina

Sitting on a fridge in the backroom of the ULU Live in his mismatched Star Wars socks, you could have mistaken Newton Faulkner for one the crew. The down-to-earth singer-songwriter from Reigate, Surrey, treated us to a striped-back acoustic duet-session with Tessa Rose Jackson, and the opportunity to sit down and talk about everything from touring life, to family, to pancakes.

He talked to us about his long career and his new album, Hit the Ground Running, which he has recorded and produced himself. Faulkner, who is well known for his use of the guitar as a percussion instrument, said this meant he could produce the tracks as he wanted them to be heard, and get closer to his fans as a result.
