“We are going to see Harry Bosch in dimensions we’ve never seen before”: Michael Connelly on Bosch – Legacy season two

“We are going to see Harry Bosch in dimensions we’ve never seen before”: Michael Connelly on Bosch – Legacy season two

After leaving viewers on an emotionally charged cliff-hanger, season two of Bosch: Legacy picks up exactly where season one left off, with Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), inspired by the famous character in Michael Connelly’s series of novels, striving to save his daughter Maddie. Season one ends with unanswered questions for Bosch; his daughter has been kidnapped and he does not know if she has survived. However, Bosch: Legacy season two establishes a different pace from season one as viewers follow three leads: Harry Bosch, Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz), and Honey “Money” Chandler (Mimi Rodgers).

Based on Connelly’s novel, The Crossing, this next chapter sees Harry transition from a career as a homicide detective for the LAPD to working for a defence attorney. For Bosch, this feels like going to the dark side and this new territory sets viewers up for a fantastic follow-up season.

With his latest work, Connelly believes viewers can expect “a lot of emotion and motivation”, as well as to be greeted with some fan favourites from the original show, namely Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector). As a sequel to Bosch, which ran for seven seasons, Bosch: Legacy maintains the standard of the much-loved original. However, this latest show introduces a welcome change of pace – we see Harry Bosch in new ways, and this allows for greater story progression.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of hearing from seasoned writer and producer Connelly, as he discussed the new season of Bosch: Legacy, what viewers can expect from the new storyline, and how it differs from season one. We also touched on the transition from writer to producer and how this has altered over the years.
