Jack Black returns as Po in Kung Fu Panda 4 slated for UK release in March 2024

Jack Black reprises his role as the beloved martial arts hero Po in Kung Fu Panda 4, set to hit UK cinemas on 28th March 2024. After nearly a decade away from the franchise, Black, alongside a star-studded cast, returns in DreamWorks Animation’s newest instalment of the action-comedy series. The film introduces new challenges for Po, including a powerful sorceress adversary and an unexpected partnership, as he steps up as the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace.

In this new chapter, Po faces the daunting task of becoming the Spiritual Leader after proving himself through a series of perilous quests. His lack of spiritual knowledge and the urgent need to find and train a successor as the Dragon Warrior complicate his journey. The appearance of Chameleon (voiced by Oscar-winner Viola Davis), a villain with the ability to morph into any creature, adds to Po’s troubles as she sets her sights on a powerful artefact previously guarded by Po.

To thwart Chameleon’s plans, Po teams up with the cunning Zhen (Golden Globe-winner Awkwafina), a corsac fox whose thieving expertise and challenging personality bring both friction and value to their mission. The duo’s dynamic promises to deliver a blend of humour and excitement as they strive to protect their home.

The ensemble voice cast also includes returning talents such as Academy Award-winner Dustin Hoffman as Shifu, Po’s kung fu master; James Hong as Mr. Ping, Po’s adoptive father; Bryan Cranston as Li, Po’s birth father; and Emmy Award nominee Ian McShane as Tai Lung. Ke Huy Quan joins the cast in a new role.

Directed by Mike Mitchell, known for Trolls and Shrek Forever After, with Rebecca Huntley producing and Stephanie Ma Stine co-directing, Kung Fu Panda 4 hopes to build on the success of its predecessors. Since the first Kung Fu Panda film in 2008, the franchise has grossed over $1.8 billion globally.
