Sprout bar in Earl’s Court launches supermarket challenge cocktail series with guest bartenders
Sprout, the seasonally led watering hole owned by Will Meredith and Ellie Camm at Templeton Garden in Earl’s Court, is launching a series of collaborations with other bars, beginning on 7th July with Kiki Lounge from the Isle of Man. Under the name Sprout Sessions, the events will invite guest bartenders to create one-off cocktails from ingredients bought during a timed supermarket search, with the drinks then served to guests at the venue that evening.
The sessions will be run by bar manager Dominic Royle. For each, guest bartenders will be given 15 minutes and a £50 budget to buy whatever they choose from a local supermarket, from tinned peaches and pickled onions to gravy granules or other unexpected items. Back at the bar, they will work with Royle to devise a menu of cocktails using their purchases, which patrons can watch being mixed and taste when they’re ready. One drink from each session will remain on Sprout’s menu for the rest of the month.
The first edition on 7th July, which runs from 5pm to 9pm, will feature Drew Fleming and Jamie Lewis from Kiki Lounge. Then, in August (date to be confirmed), rooftop bar A for Athens, based in the Greek capital, will take part. Another team is scheduled to join the series in September.
“Everything we do at Sprout is rooted in creativity and skill, and Sprout Sessions is a great way to exercise that with our fellow friends in the industry,” said Royle. “Expect a lot of delicious drinks, plenty of collaboration and a touch of chaos along the way as we source our ingredients against the clock.”
