Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham lead Apple TV thriller Nocturne
Apple TV has set an 30ᵗʰ October premiere date for Nocturne, a new crime drama starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham, while also unveiling the first images from the upcoming series.
Based on Lars Kepler’s internationally bestselling novels Lazarus and The Sandman, the ten-part drama follows Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), a former soldier turned homicide detective who relocates from Philadelphia to a quiet town in western Pennsylvania in search of a fresh start. His hopes of a peaceful life are quickly shattered when his community comes under threat from the calculating serial killer Jurek Walter, played by Graham.
As the hunt for Jurek’s final missing victim intensifies, Jonah turns to FBI agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), sending her into a dangerous confrontation with the elusive killer while risking everything to protect those closest to him.
The series is created for television by BAFTA winner Rowan Joffe (Tin Star), who also writes and executive produces, with Shooter creator John Hlavin serving as writer, showrunner and executive producer. The first two episodes are directed by Emmy winner Tim Van Patten (Franklin, Masters of the Air, Black Mirror).
Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr round out the ensemble cast.
With more than 20 million copies of the Lars Kepler novels sold worldwide across 40 languages, Nocturne brings one of crime fiction’s most successful literary series to the screen for the first time.
