Tom Cruise and Alejandro G Iñárritu team up for Digger
Warner Bros has released the first trailer for Digger, the upcoming thriller that pairs Tom Cruise with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alejandro G Iñárritu for the first time.
Set for release in UK cinemas on 2nd October, the original feature stars Cruise as the world’s most powerful man, who embarks on a desperate mission to convince humanity that he can avert the catastrophic consequences of a disaster he has unleashed.
Cruise leads an ensemble cast that includes Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Robert John Burke, Emma D’Arcy, Burn Gorman and Sophie Wilde.
The film marks Iñárritu’s first English-language feature since The Revenant, which earned him Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture, and is based on an original story by the filmmaker and Sabina Berman. The screenplay is co-written by Iñárritu alongside Oscar winners Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolás Giacobone, who previously collaborated with the director on Birdman.
Shot entirely in VistaVision, Digger will receive an exclusive theatrical release, including IMAX screenings. Behind the camera, Iñárritu reunites with several longtime collaborators, including Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, while the creative team also features production designer Dennis Gassner and makeup artist Kazu Hiro.
The newly released trailer offers a first glimpse of the film’s ambitious scale, blending large-scale spectacle with the psychological intensity that has become synonymous with Iñárritu’s work.
