Indiana Jones is back on the big screen as Raiders of the Lost Ark celebrates 45 years
Indiana Jones is heading back to cinemas this September, with Steven Spielberg’s Raiders of the Lost Ark returning to the big screen for one week only to mark its 45th anniversary.
From 11th to 17th September, audiences will be able to revisit Harrison Ford’s first adventure as the legendary archaeologist in 4K and IMAX, while the film will also be shown in 4DX in UK cinemas for the first time.
Released in 1981, Raiders of the Lost Ark sends Indy on a globe-trotting race to find the mystical Ark of the Covenant before it falls into Nazi hands. Along the way, there are booby traps, ancient mysteries, perilous escapes and, of course, Indy’s rather memorable encounter with a pit full of snakes.
Ford stars alongside Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, with Paul Freeman, John Rhys-Davies, Denholm Elliott and Alfred Molina also appearing in Spielberg’s adventure classic.
More than four decades after audiences first met Indiana Jones, the anniversary release offers the chance to see one of cinema’s most enduring adventure films back where it started – and, for those opting for 4DX, to experience its action in an entirely new way.
