Woody and Buzz are coming home as Toy Story 5 lands on Disney+ this September

Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the toys are heading to Disney+, with Toy Story 5 set to begin streaming on 23^rd September following its cinema release earlier this summer.

The fifth instalment brings the familiar characters into conflict with something rather different: technology. Their place in Bonnie’s life is challenged by the arrival of Lilypad, a new tablet device with her own ideas about what is best for their kid, leaving the toys to wonder whether playtime will ever be the same.

The film has grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide since its June cinema debut and will now join the previous four Toy Story films on Disney+. The franchise has amassed more than two billion hours streamed globally on the service.

Toy Story 5 is directed by Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris, with Randy Newman returning to compose the score for his fifth film in the series.

The Disney+ date arrives alongside the release of a new music video for the piano version of Taylor Swift’s I Knew It, I Knew You, featuring footage from the film. The number-one original song was written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff.

The track also appears on the Toy Story 5 Original Soundtrack alongside Newman’s score, with vinyl and CD editions set for release on 25^th September.

After bringing the toys into the age of tablets and screens on the big screen this summer, Toy Story 5 will soon give audiences the chance to catch up with their latest adventure at home.
