Sale e Pepe Knightsbridge to mark World Pasta Day this weekend with 70s clam linguine and more
Sale e Pepe, the Italian restaurant on Pavilion Road in Knightsbridge, is marking World Pasta Day this Sunday by spotlighting a selection of its pasta dishes – including a clam linguine that’s so enduringly popular that it’s been on the menu since the 1970s. The restaurant, which sits just behind Harrods, opened in 1974 and has been run by Markus Thesleff since 2022, when founder Toni Corricelli retired after almost five decades. Pasta remains central to the offering, which is rooted in classic Italian cooking.
The longest-serving plate is the Linguine Vongole e Bottarga, which combines fresh clams with bottarga (cured fish roe), garlic and parsley. It will be celebrated this weekend along with the Linguine all’Aragosta, made with lobster, datterino tomatoes and basil. There will also be Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, the eponymous Roman dish of pecorino and black pepper, and the restaurant’s own version of Paccheri alla Vodka, with large tube-shaped pasta served in a sauce of San Marzano tomato, cream and vodka.
All the pasta on the menu is available in both starter and main portions, which means diners can order several and share them famiglia style – or for those serious pasta aficionados who don’t share, it’s possible to try more than one plate rather than committing to one.
World Pasta Day is held annually on 25th October and celebrates pasta as a food across the globe. This year it falls on a Sunday, meaning diners can really commit to their carb comas.
