Clear and cool: Perspex and PVC accessories hit the high street

Clear and cool: Perspex and PVC accessories hit the high street

When Christian Louboutin released a pair of PVC and suede heels last year, celebrities went crazy for them. Known as the Bis Un Bout, the stylish heels were worn by the likes of Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Emma Stone plus many more.  Alexander McQueen and Charlotte Olympia also included an array of Perspex clutches, handbags and heels at their 2012 fashions shows, which meant only one thing: it wouldn’t be long before the high street picked up on the plastic fantastic trend.

As we roll into spring 2013, it seems that the time is here. Hot on the heels of the famous designers, stores such as New Look, Accessorize and even Harrods are offering a selection of stylish, see-through pieces at an affordable rate.

Check out below to see how you can grab yourself a piece of the transparent trend:

Accessorize, £29. This pretty clutch is a great way to rock the trend but keep your belongings private as it comes with a spotted purse inside, much like those designed by Charlotte Olympia.

Dune, £80. These cornflower blue heels are the perfect way to bring some colour into your spring wardrobe. Wear with a floral dress for day or metallic mini for night.

Friis and Company, £52.95. A statement bag if ever we saw one and for a fraction of the price. Pair this fluorescent bowling bag with muted colours to show it off, or clash with prints and brights for on-trend 90s style.

ASOS, £40. These wedges highlight two summer must-haves: sunny yellow and see-through Perspex. With a wedge heel lower than four inches and soft faux suede upper material, these shoes offer both comfort and fashion.

Harrods, £40. Harrods have given their stylish shoulder bag a transparent make-over. It also comes with a small purse so you won’t be flashing your money. (Also available with bronze and black detailing for a more subtle look)

New Look, £12.99. You can always depend on New Look to offer style on a budget. This pink Perspex box clutch with the much-needed silver chain ticks all the boxes and won’t break the bank.

If you’re going to pull off one trend for spring it must be this: versatile and affordable. What’s not to love?
