As if life for Gigi Hadid couldn’t get any better, the 20-year-old Californian beauty has just been named the new face of Topshop’s global autumn/winter 2015 campaign.
Shot by renowned fashion photographer, Tyrone Lebon and styled by Topshop creative director Kate Phelan, Hadid shows off the brand’s newest collection looking every bit the effortlessly chic, rough around the edges off-duty model.
Adding to her already impressive résumé of major campaigns such as Maybelline, Guess and Seafolly in addition to having been welcomed as a new member of those real-life angels for Victoria Secret and heralded as the face of their Pink label, Hadid is paving her own way to becoming one of the world’s most sought-after models.
With a close knit group of famous friends such as Cara Delevingne, the Jenner sisters and current boyfriend, Joe Jonas it is no wonder Hadid has racked up 4.9 million followers on Instagram. Hadid’s continuously growing social following online will have played a part in gaining her the role of a lifetime as the retailer’s new ambassador. However, her popular online presence would not have been the sole factor.
Quite clearly her long legs and Disney-princess blonde locks have a part to play in her success. Having been snapped up at just two-years-old by Paul Marciarno for Guess, Hadid is accustomed to life in front of a camera lens. With her natural beauty and social presence, Hadid makes perfect sense as the face of this high-street favourite.
If the career of previous ambassador, Cara Delevingne, is anything to go by then landing a Topshop campaign not only solidifies one’s status as a face to recognise but could also open many more, highly sought-after doors for this pretty young thing. With Delevingne having hung her modelling hat up recently, we think it may just be Gigi’s time to shine.
