Marilyn Monroe’s inspiration: the diva and her red lipstick

Celebrated by the last Cannes Film Festival, catching her in a wonderful poster, honoured by an exhibition of her own clothes and accessories, not to be missed at Salvatore Farragamo Museum in Florence until next January and played by a divine Michelle Williams in the last biopic of Simon Curtis is My Week with Marilyn. Fifty years after her untimely death, Marilyn Monroe, the most beloved blonde of Hollywood, still holds a charm intended to have no end.

The pleated white dress, the swimsuits of the time, the black or white décolleté, the sparkling dresses for special occasions, the satin gloves and jewels, the sheepskin coats, the pencil-skirt suits and the minimal suits for during the day are the key symbols which surround her legend.

Likewise, one of the hallmarks of her “signature look” was the red lipstick: a unique mix of multiple shades of red, created in collaboration with her personal MUA, Whitey Snyder.
