Beautiful hand-made jewellery and accessories by Spanish & Sisters

Spanish and Sisters is an on-line jewellery and accessories boutique that specialises in hand-made pieces in a variety of natural fabrics, precious stones and pearls.

The brand was started by sister duo Elena and Ana Zarranz who began selling a small collection of unique belt designs in the Portobello street market six years ago. Although neither has a background in fashion or design, (as most girls do) the sisters shared a love of fashion and a passion for design. They began creating principal designs with a focus on the quality of materials used, and received positive reactions. When interest in their pieces started to grow the range was soon expanded to include jewellery and bags, and is now sold in prestigious independent boutiques across Europe, Australia and, of course, on Portobello Road.

 

 

New designs are added to the ever-growing collection of necklaces, brooches, earrings and bags, twice a year. Rather than following seasons or catwalk trends, Spanish and Sisters aims to create timeless pieces that can be treasured by owners for years rather than fall into disposable fashion. This ensures that best sellers are always available. The brand also welcomes advice and ideas from customers for their designs: “Our philosophy is to be continually open to suggestions…and learn to adapt ourselves to the needs of our customers.”

 

 

All pieces are hand-made by expert artisans who the designers work very closely with. The sisters take inspiration for their work from flowers, foliage and organic shapes, which is apparent in their choice of natural fabrics silk, leather and natural stones, all chosen for their varying textures.

 

The jewellery collection, comprised of colourful threads, semi-precious stones, gold and pearls, also includes pieces with intricate crocheted floral and strawberry patterns giving them a homespun and personal feel. However the range is soon to have a more luxurious touch, as Spanish and Sisters will be introducing crystals along with other materials in their next collection.
