NYFW – Jill Stuart S/S 2013 collection
Designer Jill Stuart says her Spring 2013 collection was inspired by “faded Hollywood glamour and couture lingerie”.
“I started thinking about Kim Basinger’s character in L.A. Confidential, ” she told the Daily News. “And I love how they described it in the film as a city of angels.” Going along with the Hollywood theme, the show was attended by the fashion elite including actress Rose Byrne and Real Housewife of New York fashionista, Kelly Bensimon.
The model’s strutted down the catwalk in sky-high chunky platform heels. Lady-like and glamorous, silver sequin crowns adorned the model’s slicked-back hair. The clothes were a collection of simple, luxe colours including, black, white, golden rusty shades, nudes and pops of sea foam green. Her line showed corset styled tops, rich brocade blazers, below the knee pleated skirts, and weightless silk floor grazing dresses. Ethereal white sheer lace blouses with flower and crystal embellishments, juxtaposed the daring black leather and lace looks.
The runway was a bright rainbow of one-note colours until pops of silver started coming down the runway. After seeing the silver sequined bralette shown through a silver brocade blazer you could hear the collective gasp of the show attendees when the floor length silver sequin dress closed down the show. Stunning and glamorous as always, the Jill Stuart’s 2013 line is single handedly trying to bring Hollywood glamour up and centre for the Spring season.
