Launch of the brand-new 59Strings.com
Yesterday we were invited to attend the launch of the international online website 59strings founded by Cambridge 2005 Graduate Stacey Ying. 59strings is a platform for niche artisans and luxury designers and takes inspiration from the incredible visionary Coco Chanel. It centres on the quote by Coco Chanel: “in order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.” Even the name 59strings (Sishang) in Chinese, means, “I am my own unique personal style”, which is the image and effect they are trying to reflect on the world, but particularly China as this is their main target after the UK, hence the title.
This website will allow small time boutique owners to gain awareness and following internationally. The launch was the perfect opportunity to view the work of Amelia Powers, the designer of Hollywood style bags. Beautifully inventive and unique accessories by Claire English that are a personal favourite and a definite must-have.
What really took over the room at the Arch Hotel last night were the stunning dresses by Luna Sky. The dress rails seemed dream-like covered with sequins, layers of light delicate fabrics in timeless silhouettes. These wow-factor dresses were pure luxury and would make any woman feel red-carpet ready.
59Strings is all about sharing and exhibiting independent boutiques because they have something really unique and special to offer the world of fashion. In the same way as making a caterpillar into a butterfly they hope to aid the success of many boutiques, turning Coco’s into Chanel’s.
There are some truly imaginative and amazing things to be found, so have a look and see if you can find something that inspires you to be different.
