Interpol’s front-man Paul Banks gave a rare performance in front of less than 50 people yesterday at Union Square Ballroom. The show was part of the series of free events, organized by CMJ and Seattle radio station KEPX, also broadcasted live on tunein.com.

Banks opened the concert with Over My Shoulder – a track from his new eponymous solo album Banks, released on 22nd October by Matador. The artist played two more songs from his upcoming and highly anticipated LP, as well as tracks from his two previous solo records – Julian Plenti Is… Skyscraper and Julian Plenti Lives…, issued earlier this year.

The performance, which lasted roughly 30 minutes, was attended by Paul Banks’ current girlfriend Helena Christensen and her son Mingus.

Paul Banks also played Thursday night with Action Bronson and a few other bands at another CMJ show at House of Vans. The musician will be touring the US until the end of the year to promote his new record, while swinging to Europe in the beginning of next year. His first European show is scheduled for 20th January, 2013, at The Academy in Dublin.
