The achievable English rose

The achievable English rose

With iconic figures such as Lisa Eldridge, Nigella Lawson and Kate Winslet rocking the English rose look, never before has it been more desirable. A beautifully pale and glowing complexion teamed with a rosy cheek, gives the appearance of natural beauty. This look is a make-under, rather than a make-over.

Us savvy The Upcoming ladies know when it comes to ageing, prevention is better than cure. So we opt for a faux tan rather than the damaging use of sun beds; now’s the time to save yourself a few precious minutes and hang up your fake tanning mitt. Embrace your inner (naturally pale) goddess. Give it a try; it can be quite liberating!

Once your skin is back to its natural colour, it’s time to create that glow! The English rose look can be achieved by adding just two products to your make-up bag. The first being Lush’s Feeling younger skin tint, priced at £12. The pot may be small, but a little goes a long way and this product certainly performs. Mix a small amount into your foundation, dab on your cheek bones pre-blusher, or use under the eyes to reflect light and disguise dark circles. Whichever method of application you choose, the epitome of an English rose is one step closer!!

Continue the healthy glow theme into your cheek with Benefit’s Pocket Pal, £15. This handy little product doubles as a cheek or lip stain and gloss in one. Do not shy away from this stain – you’ll be amazed at its ease of use. The key to successful application is to build and layer the colour rather than applying it all in one go. Focus on one cheek at a time, draw three small crosses with the stain on your cheek bones, and using your ring finger pat this product up towards the hair line until you have the finish you require. Repeat on the other side of your face before adding more colour.

The handy brush used to apply Benefit’s Pocket Pal makes application to the lip area a breeze. Simply wipe the brush to remove excess product, then dab onto the lip area and blend with the finger. Adding a gloss to the lip really makes this look pop.

Finish your look with a couple of coats of mascara and stand back to admire your beauty! Give yourselves a pat on the back; you have achieved the beautiful English rose look.
