Top trends from the A/W’13 catwalks

As the autumn/winter 2013-14 collections have all been revealed and showcased, the designers have introduced a whole new wardrobe’s worth of trends that has been brought to us fashion lovers.

There is a huge mix of trends, ranging from a revival of punk and grunge (seen at Saint Laurent Paris) to girl/boy dressing (seen at KTZ). Fur and a mixing of textures is big, and there is no doubt that orange is the colour of the season, as evident from DKNY and Narciso Rodriguez.

We were taken back into the archives of fashion houses, where silhouettes and fabrics that have a nostalgic feel, were modernised into contemporary treasures. This was evident at Dior, as Raf Simons pleasantly surprised us.

Decadence and opulence were evident on some runways, such as Dolce & Gabbana and Marios Schwab, while the 70s was an era that was revisited a few times on various catwalks, mostly seen on Marc Jacobs and DSquared2. Louis Vuitton also brought to us the often revisited trend of loungewear as outerwear… There seems to be no end to Marc Jacobs’ genius!

So it seems as though there are a variety of trends that we can rock this fall, with a pop of colour that ensures our wardrobe won’t be dull and dreary, to perhaps even getting away with wearing our finest silk pajamas outside of the house! There is no doubt that we’ll be wearing Dolce & Gabbana-inspired crowns this fall; any excuse to be a Queen!
