Marketa: minimalist accessories for a maximalist lifestyle

The Marketa New York collection is a small but perfectly formed assortment of handmade leather bags and accessories. Simple yet luxurious clutches hewn from high quality, raw, unlined Fiorentino leather are adorned with minimalist antique brass fixings.

Hailing from Prague in the Czech Republic, Marketa Psenickova studied accessory design at the Fashion Institute in New York before working alongside milliners such as Casa de Rodriguez and Cha Cha’s House of Ill Repute, ultimately going it alone to bring us Marketa, New York.

Designed and created in her New York City studio, Marketa can be found in select boutiques and of course, from her online store here. Endeavouring to produce pieces with a minimalist aesthetic and subtle stylings, Marketa is a collection for the confident who don’t need their accessories to beg for attention.

In an era when every possible surface seems to be studded and spiked this is a chic and timeless breath of fresh air.

A stand-out piece is the Leopard Black Cos Clutch, part of a collaboration with Queen Michelle of Kingdom of Style. One side is leopard printed hair-on calf skin and the other plain black leather for a contrasting fold over effect, and the end result is opulent yet sophisticated in true Marketa style.
