Midnight Society launches Christmas collection

This year has been a whirlwind for sisters Holly Hardy and Heather Brickley since they launched the Midnight Society in March. Midnight Society is known for its pieces that execute a strong attitude and a carefree motif. The pieces are young and lively; their signature statement shirts are setting global trends.

f_2941510Slogans were really big during London Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week and Midnight Society was one of the main brands to start this trend with its unique edge. They managed to combine street-style and quirky pieces with the highest quality materials, as they source all of their materials in Britain.

The designers take their inspiration from their childhood, favourite films and pop culture. The slogans on their t-shirts include “Santa Baby”, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” and “Cocktails and Mistletoe”. These quotes have retro connotations that go perfectly in sync with the loud-mouth fashion pieces.

f_2941523For the Christmas collection Midnight Society kept true to its aesthetic of catchy and iconic slogans on its pieces with a dose of youthful and fun vibes, which added to the character of the brand. Midnight Society launched 3 iconic Christmas pieces that are made from 100% soft jersey cotton, and feature glitter and a festive-themed print.

f_2941542A great quality about this brand is it gives young women the chance to be confident and wear something unpredictable and bold yet pull it off well. The clothing can easily be styled to wear in several different ways to suit different styles and attitudes. Midnight Society tees are staple pieces in your wardrobe that will be worn year-after-year due to its vintage style and high quality.

We at The Upcoming interviewed the Midnight Society sisters, and this is what they had to say:

How would you describe a “Society girl”?

Heather Brickley: Much like society in general, Midnight Society girls have varied personalities and styles. Society girls are unique, no two are alike. They are the trendsetters and the dreamers. They are the girl next door and the rebel. When united, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Your statement shirts are setting trends worldwide. Where do you get your inspiration and quotes?

HB: We draw inspiration from everywhere – we are avid people watchers and really buy in to popular culture. Having said that, our main source of inspiration is movies! Movies allow us to be whoever we want to be (even if only for a short while!) We can be the prom queen or the high school drop-out, the seductress or the outcast. When we’re channelling the prom queen, we design feminine pieces. When we feel like the rebel, we design edgy pieces with attitude.

You prioritise quality in the manufacturing process of creating your iconic tees. Why is quality important to you?

HB: When we made the move to create our own collections, we envisaged Midnight Society as a brand which would set trends – not follow them. The rise of “fast fashion” has seen women buy pieces which are only intended to last a season before it’s thrown away. We really wanted to bring to life designs which could stand the test of time and be worn again and again. With this in mind, we are careful to create key pieces our girls will love which are made to last. The majority of our tees are constructed using super-soft, high-quality 100% cotton jersey, which allows us to combine comfort and style without sacrificing quality.

How did you keep the Christmas collection key to your aesthetic?

Holly Hardy: At Midnight Society, our ethos revolves around comfortable pieces which are fashion-forward and fun! With all our tees, we intentionally create shapes, which can be dressed up or down, to be thrown on with jeans to head out shopping, or teamed with a skirt, clutch and heels for cocktails with the girls. For our Christmas collection, we felt it was really important that our pieces could make the day to night transition, to take our Society girl from the office to the office party. We then used glitter (Which we immediately fell in love with!) to add a seasonal twist to our fun Christmas slogans.

The success you’ve had with midnight society this year has been phenomenal, what are your aims for 2014?

HH: As a brand, Midnight Society is constantly evolving. Our loud-mouth fashion has taken on a life of its own and we’d really like to expand the range of products we offer our Society girls. Next season will see the introduction of the “vest dress”, which we’re super excited about! You will always find us designing new additions to our range; it’s really just a matter of timing – we’d really love to launch our own swimwear line!

As we continue to grow, we hope Midnight Society will become a name synonymous with unique pieces made to unrivalled quality.
