Trend alert: Real-life fairy tale hair and make-up

Since designer Disney princess-inspired dresses went on sale in Harrods for charity in early October, everyone is looking to turn that fairy tale into a reality, and why wouldn’t they? Disney princesses are notorious for their elegant style, unique beauty and everlasting grace, but we can never forget their fearless bravery (especially when thinking of Disney princesses like Mulan and Pocahontas). Disney princesses like Ariel, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, Snow White and Tiana have inspired millions of girls and attracted lots of attention (both positive and negative). But one thing we cannot deny is even though they are cartoon characters and not technically real, Disney princesses sure do know how to dress and work that fairy tale look. In a way, Disney princesses are becoming the new style icons. They’re setting the trends and inspiring fashionistas all over. Now ladies everywhere want that real-life, modern-day, fairy tale princess look.

There is a growing trend of women adapting a softer fairy tale look. This can be anything from red locks like Ariel from The Little Mermaid or big eye lashes like Cinderella. It is definitely sweeping the catwalk shows and magazine covers. It’s also a favourite with others too; Ariana Grande is a prime example and does the fairy tale look perfectly. The Way singer is frequently pictured capturing the fairy tale look, with her cute princess skater dresses, voluminous wavy hair and flawless make-up. Ariana Grande proves that you don’t have to be a Disney cartoon character or dress over the top to get the fairy tale look.

When you think about it, achieving the fairy tale look is relatively easy. It’s not about looking exactly like a fairy tale princess, but about taking little bits from their look and making them the centre piece. For the hair you could take Belle’s voluminous waves, and for make-up you have Snow White’s rosy lips. With a few added touches, you’ve got your own classic beauty look.

This trend is growing rapidly popular at every turn, thus demonstrating that fairy tale hair and make-up are not just for the Disney princesses in the movies. So why don’t you try it this party season. Take a cue from cartoon heroines like Cinderella, Belle or Snow White and go for that characteristic princess look. Make that fairy tale a reality.
